Why do Americans have to overdo their Christmas decorations to the point
that their homes look like Las Vegas casinos? Tasteless, to say the least in www. I know of no other country where the Christmas "decorations" are so
overstated and tasteless. Why these energy-wasting excesses of houses covered in blinking lights? All
that is needed is a Star of Bethlehem and advent
candles (you know, you light one candle on the first Sunday of Advent, two
candles the second Sunday, and so on). Add to that a tastefully decorated
Christmas tree, and you have all the Christmas decorations you need. |

-I think the thing is that people have different ideas about "tastful". Who
decides what is enough? You? Why? -We overdo Xmas decorations just like we do foreign aid. We should trim back
on the first, and eliminate the second. Then you could whine with pain, not
just whine. -Here in Ireland this phenomenon is just beginning but people are really
taking to it
with a vengeance.
I can't say they're tasteful but they sure cheer up
an Irish winter. It's good to suspend taste and go for the tacky
and childish for a while. -people would load up boxes of their "old" stuff after christmas and give it
to the church, so goes the story in my family... -When we moved intolour house, I wanted to put a pink flamingo in a
black leather jacket on the porch. Still haven't done it, because I
haven't found the right flamingo yet. |
