Packaging Unusual Christmas Gifts?
My husband and I want to give our nephew (almost 12) and niece (8)
something a bit different for Christmas this year: our time. They have
plenty of stuff, Lord knows! Anyway, we have kicked around the idea of promising to take them on two
special trips in 2001: skiing and camping (obviously at different times
of year). Any ideas on how to package this under the tree? |

-I'll second the coupon idea, but attach it to a (wrapped) present that
would be fun or useful on the trip. My parents gave me a trip to Hawaii
for a birthday/graduation present in this way. My mom had wrapped 7 or
8 small gifts that were all things associated w/ Hawaii or things I
could use on the trip. I don't remember them all, but there was a
pineapple, a jar of macadamia nuts, a Hawaiian shirt (for me, my
daughter, and my hubby since we're all going), an underwater camera,
and, in the final package, several brochures about the island that we'll
be staying on along with a printed itinerary. From the recepient's
point of view, this was a great way to receive a trip as a gift! I was
totally clueless until I got to the itinerary... -How about an ornament representing each trip -- one for Susie [and Jim]
and the other for Jim [and Susie] [so each gets to open one and hang it,
but they are for both together] There are ornaments that represent almost
every human activity -- you could easily find a ski and a camping related
ornament. Then the ornaments would also be reminders hanging on the tree
each year of your charming gift. -I would make a coupon and perhaps some kind of travel brochure or
whatever. If you kow where youre going, get a brochure from that
place, if not cut out magazines of tents and so forth and make
something |
