Unique Christmas Gift?

When I was about seven years old my father bought me a two dollar pocket watch for Christmas.I took it apart, and took all the wheels out of it.I remember sitting on the floor for hours at a time spinning those wheels like little toy tops.Trying to get them all spinning at the same time.It wasn't that much of a gift as far as gifts go.It stands out in my mind though as a unique gift that I will always remember.Anyone remember such a special unique gift?

-My Aunt bought me an N-Guage train engine (Burlington Northern) that I absolutely adore still. Lets see ... she bought that for me ... ummm ... 35+ years ago ... and I still smile every time I think of it. Way cool. btw, yes, I still have it and yes, it still runs. -My grandmother bought all of her grandsons those old pocket watches for Christmas one year. I was also about 7 or 8 years old when I got mine. I had it for several years, but it did not keep great time because I had the back off of it as much as I had it together. These were also those inexpensive watches that one got at either G. C. Murphy's or Woolworth's, but for grandma to get them for her 5 grandsons must have taken much of her disposable income for a couple of months. My parents built an apartment for her in our house so she would have a place to live for free, have some independence, yet still have friends and family close by. I cherish those years that I spent with grandma. -When I was in the eighth grade ('59), my parents gave me a Toshiba transistor radio. It was very small for radios at that time as it was the size of a pack of cigarettes. I came with leather case and an earphone. I would lay in bed late at night with the radio under my pillow and the earphone in my ear listening to faraway stations such WWL, New Orleans, and WLS Chicago. I remember the battery(s) were rather expensive and I went thru quite a number of them. Also in the 5th grade, I received a microscope that I still have.
