I have started thinking about Christmas and trimming the tree. This year my
budge is extremely tight (I just got my first unemployment check this week,
long story) and I am also a single mother that gets no child support. Don’t
get me wrong... we will get buy.
I was thinking that this year I could make all the decorations for my tree. (I
only have a few) I was looking to see if anyone has any cheep/pretty ideas for
Christmas ornaments. I am always amazed at the information that I find on this
NG :)
Since it looks like I will be home this year... I will have the time to make

popcorn & cranberry strings. cheap, easy & you can feed the birds
with them after the holidays.
folded paper ornaments: borrow an origami book from the library.
metallic papers are pretty, but construction paper is cheap ;) oh,
waxed paper folds nicely if you like the translucent look.
waxed paper can also be colored with markers to look like stained
glass. construction paper frames will add some weight so they hang
like ornaments, or hang them/mount them in a sunny window.
assorted pinecones, pods & seedcases, spraypainted metallic, or
sprinkled with glitter... or plain.
the foam balls & glitter ornaments used to be inexpensive to make,
but i think the balls are kinda pricy now... you can add sequins &
seasonal pictures cut fron magazines or last year's cards to them
though.
i make beaded netting covers for cheap satin covered foam
ornaments, but i have over 150 pounds of beads around. might be
expensive if you have to buy the beads.
stained glass cookies, gingerbread cookies... there's something
wonderful about a tree you can eat :) (if you need the recipes, let
me know)
