It seems to be the little things that mean the most.
My sister got a hold of a tape of my Mom singing on Lawrence Welk back in 1956........she made copies on video for all of us, and sent them to us, ...........long story short, i have NEVER seen my Mom sing live.......although
I have pix of it........top CHRISTMAS GIFT because it so touched my heart.
How bout you? |

- As some of you know, my top friend in the whole world is a lady I
fondly call Annie Mae. She had her mother-in-law dumped in her lap
about 14 months ago, because none of her husband's family could
"handle it".
So Annie set about caring for the ailing elderly woman as she spiraled
downhill. Annie has emphysema and asthma, and is no spring chicken
herself, and her husband was less than helpful. Well, I mean with the
physical part of it- he would sit and talk with her, or read to her, but all
of the labor fell to Annie- the feeding, bathing, changing linens, taking her
to the doctor, etc. So when the mother-in-law passed away while we were in Los Angeles
for the Christmas Show, a huge weight was lifted off my dearest friend's
shoulders. I could see the relief on her face when I saw her, even though
she was up to her ass in alligators with the funeral arrangements. So my top present was a less-tired, more healthy-looking Annie Mae
at Christmas time. We went and played bingo this afternoon and evening, and for the first
time in many months, she was her old chipper, laughing self. I can't possibly
think of a better present than that, unless it would be to make her more
healthy, and younger so she'd be around longer. - I have to agree with you on this one - especially after the year my
kids and I have had - considering I haven't had all my kids together since
April 2000... it was SUCH a blessing to have everyone here for Christmas! |
