'Retro the Scenes' Guided Tours with Christmas decorations?
Has anyone ever taken any of the guided tours? I'm looking at the three-hour
"Yuletide Fantasy" which costs $59 per person and is supposed to view and
discuss the Christmas decorations at the parks and resorts.
Just wonder if it worth the cost for three of us? |

-We took this tour several years ago and to be honest, we found it
disappointing. They don't take you anywhere you can't go yourself, so for
us, it wasn't worth the cost. We stood by the big tree in the MK and talked
about the decorations on Main Street, did the same thing in MGM, went to
Epcot and basically did the same thing, although we also got a quick lecture
on the decorations in each of the countries and finally, we ended up at the
Wilderness Lodge to see their gingerbread display. -Three of us took this tour in December 2001 and really enjoyed it. You do
spend a lot of time in the guest areas, but I know we went to at least one
"back stage" building where x-mas decorations are stored. We ended up getting 2
ornaments each near the end of the tour. It's definitely not a tour I'd do
twice, but worth seeing once in my opinion. -I don't think this is really a 'Retro the Scenes' (ie, back-stage)
tour, but I haven't taken it so I shouldn't comment. However, I have taken several actual behand the scenes tours where you
do go "back-stage" and see how Disney does things. I've found these
very interesting and enjoyable. Probably the best is Keys to the
Kingdom, an all day tour that gets you back-stage in each of the parks.
But a word of warning -- these tours are for adults only and have the
potential to "spoil the magic". If you're a real Disney nut and
interested in how things are done, then this is for you. |
