Kid Craft Preschool Christmas Ornaments?

What are some ideas for preschool ornaments that an average 6 year old could do? While I am willing to help out a little, he is much, much happier when the results are completely from his own efforts. We do plan to make the baking soda cookie ornaments posted recently with me doing the dough and him helping with the cookie cutters and later painting on his own. I looked for some craft books, but was unable to find any simple ones oriented at the younger set. So, what decorations or tree ornaments have you or your children worked on that were fun and turned out reasonably well?We found this neat paperback book on Halloween crafts at a rummage sale and he's been pestering me ever since for something similar for Christmas. The book had lots of pictures showing how to do the different steps and he was able to sit with this book and do a lot of the crafts, even without being able to read the words. That was the kind of book I was looking for...

-I don't know of any books like this offhand, but you may want to get in touch with the publisher of the Halloween book and ask if they publish a similar book for Christmas. Also some of the larger bookstores may be able to check and see if that company publishes other books in that series. Your local library may be able to help too. -If you get good shapes for him, he can decorate just about anyting to make ornaments. There are a lot of precut wood shapes available, or satin covered Christmas balls, etc. He can drip glue and glitter on these, use pre-tied bows, etc., to decorate. Take a stroll though a craft tore & let your iagination run a bit. This year, Mickey (4 yrs old) made his own Halloween pumpkin, using a glue stick, black paper triangles, and feathers. I cut the triangles for him, but he has mastered the art of the glue stick (thanks, preschool), so the actual decorating was his own. - try a craft store, like Ben Franklin or local equivalent, or even a fabric store. Both sell books on crafts for all skill levels.
