why is "Treasure Planet" not more popular Christmas presents?
The trailer for Treasure Planet looked gorgeous and fun. It must be the wrong
time to release this film. Parents brought their kids to see Harry Potter maybe
2 or 3 times, then they have to save their money to buy Christmas presents. How come a movie about a Chinese girl, "Mulan" and a movie about bugs, "Bug's
Life" did better than Treasure Planet? "Atlantis" was also not so popular like
the other Disney films. |

-If you look at it that way, I can see your confusion. One thing Pixar films is
they have a good reputation. They are not only kid films, and I know many
teenagers and adults than enjoy Pixar films. I myself cannot wait until
Finding Nemo comes out. -Usually the first Pixar one-year-ahead DVD teasers are original ad-libs
for us to get to know the characters (eg. Mike & Sully's "There's no
kid!" from Monsters, Inc.), since they don't have the actual movie
finished yet-- If there is a real-footage trailer out by now, I'd probably take a look,
since I don't think the first teaser idea was for us to want to *flee*
the characters... -Poor writing? insipid dialogue? That's what I hated about ATLANTIS and no
matter how spectacular the visuals are in TP, the subsequent trailers have
shown that it's yet another Disney flick infected with insipid dialogue.
Maybe I'll watch it on cable--with the mute on. I know I wish I had done the
same for ATLANTIS. -"Treasure Island" just came out at the wrong time. Add on to that the
films mediocre reviews and people are just staying away from it. Also, notice that whenever a Disney cartoon film tries to appeal to
boys and not girls it's not as popular. This happened with "The
Emperor's New Groove," "Atlantis," and now "Treasure Planet." I did not like "Treasure Planet" because the whole thing outside of
the beautiful animation just seemed very poorly put together. I enjoy
"Lilo and Stitch" 100 times more than "Treasure Planet." |
