Post Christmas Cards v Online Comps

I must admit to being very reluctant to buy expensive (for me at any rate) poastage stamps given my very limited success entering online competitions, with only one video won (hollow man) following a months hard work entering a hundered or so on line comps.. may I ask the more experienced compers here whether post card entries are at all worth the cost eg are in any way shape or form productive in winnings with Christmas cards... perhaps it might be just worth hard up folk just sending p/c entires for big prizes - or have I simply got my wires crossed - which wouldnt be very difficult...?

-The biggest prizes I have won from plain paper/ postcard draws have been a holiday to Lanzarote, £1000 holiday vouchers/cash at Christmas, a £500 pushchair. Loads of smaller prizes. The bigger prizes in the last year from the internet are £1667 (Tombola), a £1000 king size bed, hand held computer, mini disc player and lots of smaller prizes. My biggest prizes ever, 2 cars, a motorbike, USA hol, Cyprus, France, Austria and several decent cash prizes have all come from tie breaker comps. They are still my favourite, but alas, there are no where near as many around as there used to be. My fortunes seem to be divided between the three, so I devote roughly the same time to each. -I think the thing to do is look at what you enjoy entering and stick to the method - on line, postcard, tiebreaker, whatever, - that you prefer - after all a month is a very short time! If you haven't won anything after six months, then start to look at whether you are perhaps doing something wrong - disqualifying yourself with multiple entries, entering the wrong kind of comps... but for now it is early days, although you hear of some stunning examples of beginners luck they are the exception, not the rule. A hundred comps is not a lot, one small win is probably statistically what you can expect and don't forget whatever they say about closing dates and notification dates is usually a myth, things take a LOT longer. For a postal comp, it isn't unusual to hear 3 to 6 months after the closing date. In the last fortnight I've had 2 prizes from comps that closed a year ago. It takes time! But the main thing is to enjoy entering and see the prizes as a bonus - if you see the whole thing as a bit of a chore and an east way to get something for nothing you will soon get disillusioned.
