I bought 3 packs of the Gladware "tupperware" containers (6 containers
to a pack). The smallest size works best for most of my ornaments but
it all depends on the size of your ornaments. This cost me about $12,
but remember it is a one time investment that will last a lifetime.
Also bought a bag of cheap paper napkins ($1). Wrap each ornament in one, unfolded, napkin. Place in a Gladware
container and put the lid on. Stack neatly into a large plastic tote.
Repeat this till all ornaments are neatly packaged and close the
tote. Who know something about them? |

-We've been doing this for YEARS using tins from Christmas candy/cookies (Oreo,
Snickers, etc). Does a good job of protecting them from breakage, tarnish,
etc. Every few years we change the paper as it gets tattered. -We have over 1500 individual ornaments on our tree. I package them
according to type...small wooden ones together, flat ones, figures, that
type of thing. I layer them in sturdy boxes with tissue paper between each
layer. The glass ones each have their own box and bubble wrap. Then those
boxes go into very sturdy larger boxes, with the boxes labeled clearly. It
will take me all day to take the tree down. -Nothing obsessive-compulsive about it. We too package the
breakable ornaments separately from the unbreakable ones.
They aren't stored in the same place. The wrapped
unbreakables, wreaths and garlands go into plastic crates in
the shed. They are unaffected by changes in temp or
humidity. The glass and the silver ornaments, textiles (stockings and table linens etc) and candles are stored
separately in the house. They are more fragile and stored in
more constant conditions. |
