My sister, who teaches 3rd and 4th grade, is completely
stumped this year for an original idea for her kids to make as
christmas gifts for their fathers. Moms are EASY...but dads are more
difficult. The requirements: must cost less than $1. per kid to
make, must be do-able by 7 to 10 year olds, must not take any
"dangerous" tools, should be completed in an hour or so. The moms
this year are getting glass bead and memory wire bracelets, with nice
beads. But the dads are gonna get shortchanged

I think many of the large arts-and-crafts stores sell bulk lots
of various items, precisely intended for class (or camp) projects.
What I was thinking of for dad-presents, though, was bolo ties.
The basic metal slider and imitation-leather "thong" should be
pretty cheap, and then get some assorted "stones" of the appropriate
size and shape for the kids to glue in place. believe it ot not - an ashtray. That said, a bracelet works well for
