I got my Xbox a couple of months ago from my dad who had had it for a
little over a year and had barely played it. It worked find for him
and when I got it it was wroking fine for a while. Then it started
giving me Christmas lights every once in a while. If I turned it off
and left it for a while it would be ok. Now I can't get it to do
anything but Christmas lights. This Xbox has never been modded, no mod
chip has ever even looked at it. The first time this machine had been
opened was today because I was trying to fix it.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with fixing Christmas Lights? |

What do you mean by "Chirstmas lights"? See the Xbox manual page 16 for details of the various status light flashing
combinations and the solutions. Since it worked at times, I would look for a simple solution. In this case,
verify that the audio/video plug is fully inserted into the unit. If that
fails it might be good to take Mike's advice and reference the manual.
After that, if still unclear call 1800 - 4 myxbox. I've checked the connections, they are all good. Christmas lights
means I push the power button and I get the following sequence, green,
off, green, off, green, flashing green and red. My manual says nothing
about flashing sequences, but the websites I've seen say its a system
failure (http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/system_failure.htm). I
already called 1-800-4myxbox, and they said it needs to be repaired
about $75 plus S/H (might as well get a new one or wait for 360). So
I was hoping to repair it myself, but I can't find much info. |
