I'm trying to decide which of the many crafts I've seen everyone
mention over the years to make for my friends and family. I'm considering
embossed candles, notecards, velvet/brocade reversable shawls, maybe some
home-made candles and soaps, gourmet vinegars & oils, etc. I was just
wondering what the rest of you had come up with!
So is anyone else here going to have a handmade Christmas/Yule/Baldur's
birthday and handmade presents? |

My thing this year is beaded Christmas ornaments, which can be done in
basically any colour...I've got the URL for instructions somewhere. If ya
do those, though, you need to go to a *real* bead store, 'cause the beads
they sell in craft stores generally aren't great, plus, at a bead store you
can get five times as many beads for only double the price, therei s *such*
a markup on craft store beads. And for one of my friends, I've got a nifty
box that my pocket watch came in, I'm going to paint it black and put celtic
designs on it. For myself, I bought a hinge for a change purse from mylocal
bead store ($10) and I am making a beaded change purse, the outside is
mainly palish saphire blue beads with some dark purple and some silvery
ones, the lining will be white satin. I haven't decided what I'm going to do about Christmas presents this year.
Last year I found a wodden box with a sliding cover with a picture of a
guardian angel watching two children on it. I ripped off all of it but the
wings and painted it, then I burned designs in the sides and stained them as
well and stuffed the thing with scented goodies.
My friend decided to take pity on me this year, and is paying me to make Wild
Sage Bread for her gift baskets. |
