The header says best Christmas lights. There is no stipulation between
commercial and residential, interior or exterior. Hands down overall is Lord &
Taylor.
When I was a wee lad, we always drove through the Northeast to see the best
lights. With all of the lawn space, not to mention the bigger homes, the lights
were ALWAYS spectacular.

Now that you've grown up, visit South Philly!!!!=:) You'd be welcome here!!!
The walls expand 'n the lights have a magical influence!!!
Up until about seven or eight years ago, we'd have all of the children down to
the house for New Year's Day!!! There were only about 85 of them then!! Now,
there are about 120 (five generations) children, grandchildren, great and great
great grandchildren!!! Many of them would bring their new girlfriends, and
groups of friends to observe with amazement what could be accomplished out of a
little South Philly home. We'd always prepare for between 150 and 200
visitors!!! After awhile, It just got to be a little much cooking and
cleaning up after they all left!!! The family now spreads from MA to FL to
TX, CA, NJ, MD, NY, MO, MI, and (for the moment) that's all that comes to
mind!!!=:) ALL of them are proud of their South Philly roots!!! Tradition has
it that the string bands still play at most of our weddings, and other special
occasions, all around the country!!=:) If we can't have live performances, we
have a bounty of recordings to bring life to the parties!!!=:)
Instead of our doing the fixing, they now prepare a feast for us on
Thanksgiving. On Christmas Day, the kids come to pick us up and we make the
rounds of each second generation home!!! On New Year's Day, we go into
retreat but (if we"re around the house) usually make a pot of soup just in case
someone happens by!!!
Some of the mummers still parade down the next block from where we live and
where they fill OLMC for the mummer's mass on New Year's Eve!!=:)
Now, back to the lighting!!It's become quite a bit more sophisticated
over the past few years!!! The effects might astound you!!!=:) Give it a
shot and take a ride around some of the small streets of South Philadelphia!!!
You'll find a great deal of spirit to fill you with the delights of the
season!!!=:) Where you don't find the best in lighting, you'll still find the
best of people in South Philadelphia!!! |
