Just wondering if anyone has found an online service they could recomend
an online service that sends you photo prints from your digital files..
I found Kodak's Ofoto, and their prices look OK, but they only accept
JPEG and I was hoping to find one that accepts lossless file types (.psp
would be best of course ;)
I have some old Christmas cards I've been restoring.. taking the
rips/stains/gouges out and most are large enough for photo-quality
prints (3000x2000 dpi) but my printer isn't up to the challenge, and the
ink would fade and look worse than the original in a couple years

since you have psp then why not use the export option and upload it to
studio avenue? I ordered some prints from there and they are of real
excellent quality... it's the best print ordering option I've come across so
far. It uploads directly from your PSP format, and features high quality
viewing and printing options also. I am amazed every time though, I haven't
a clue as to what filetype it converts it to... but it's super fast to
upload, it appears lossless and is probably just what you're looking for. finally got my image in the mail... It was a vector image with
lots of solid color, and a few gradients. Like I said in another post,
the preview on StudioAvenue was highly degraded, as you'd expect when
compressing solid colors into a jpg file. But, the printed copy I
received looks excellent, no artifacts whatsoever... now I just wish I
hadn't told it "Zoom to fit" accidentally, I've got an excellent 8x10
glossy of the center third of my creation ;)
So, I'll probably use their service when I want PSP files printed...
only downside is uploading multi-megabyte files to the server.
As far as local printshops, I haven't really searched for any. I have
asked Kinko's about computer files when I wanted to make some
professionally printed Christmas cards, but the entire staff seemed
rather clueless, saying that they only really know how to print things
in PDF format (I'm sure they can do others, it just takes someone that
knows how to use a computer). That's where my previous questions about
PSP-PDF conversions come in. |
