You can make this Christmas special for someone

"I'd like to remind everyone that there are a lot of people, even in your city, who can't afford Christmas presents, clothing, or even food. Tis the season of giving, so please think about giving to those less fortunate this year! You can go to most major stores and shopping malls to draw a child's name from a giving tree. You can adopt an entire family & provide a gift for each member plus a Christmas dinner, if you can't afford this alone you can have some friends or family members go in on it with you! You can also adopt a Senior Citizen who's most likely in a nursing home with little to no family & no one to even visit them. You can drop off an unwrapped gift to Toys for Tots or donate a new (or used!) coat for Coats for Kids! Have an old beat up bicycle? Kids outgrew that bike they had a few years ago? There are places to donate those as well where they will refurbish them & give them to a needy child! You can make this Christmas special for someone who would overwise be alone, depressed, presentless, or even starving and cold. You don't have to spend much money, even a $5 toy will make someone smile Christmas morning! A $0.59 can of food donated to the local food bank will feed someone out there! If you need more info on who to contact to adopt a family or any of the other charities just let me know & I'll get try to the info for you or at least tell you who to try to contact for information! I adopt a family every year & have since I had my very first job. It's a wonderful, wonderful feeling when you wake up on Christmas morning & realize that somewhere out there a family might be having their first real Christmas ever... all thanks to you. So when you're out shopping friday morning, think about picking up a gift for Toys for Tots or not passing up that giving tree... it will not only change the life of a stranger, but it will fill your heart with warmth and show you the truest meaning of the "Season of Giving". Here's the message that got me thinking: If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will not survive the week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people around the world. If you attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than almost three billion people in the world. If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy. If your parents are still married and alive, you are very rare, even in the United States. If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not. If you can hold someone's hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer God's healing touch. If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read anything at all. If you can pass this along you may be blessed in ways you may never even know.

In the meantime, they had a list of families - mostly in Appalachia - who could use some help this Christmas. I got my family on Tues :-) It's a mom and dad and 16year old girl from Prestonsburg, Ky. We are going shopping tomorrow :-) I'm very excited about it! I'm feeling especially blessed today - something I need to remember on a daily basis You're right, Norma. Sometimes, it seems there are so many ppl who need help, you just don't know what to do. I have come to the realization that, while I can't save the whole world, I can do my best to do what I can do.
