Can anyone share any suggestions, tips, on taking pictures of
Christmas lights. There are so many beautifully decorated homes it
would be nice to get pictures of them. |

It depends somewhat on your camera. Some cameras will force the flash as the
sole means of exposure. That might be OK, or it might not. I like to get the
colored lights to show, and then I like a little ambient glow on the tree
branches between the lights. So, I see what the camera wants to expose for a
straight flash shot, and then I slow down the shutter a notch or two from
there. Tripod, of course. If you have snow, then forget everything I just
stated. Snow will be bright, and you can get reflections off the snow, but
you'll have to meter off the reflections, which will be difficult. Tripod, of
course of course. |
