i'm here again to ask if anyone knows of any christmas lights in the
bay area this 2001 year (preferably along the peninsula and southbay,
but it would be great if you can post any other places you've found
lights, so other readers can enjoy them, too!) below was my original post last december 2000. if you do a search
under "christmas lights bay area" you'll come up with all of the
responses. a few of the links still work!! does anyone know of a list/website, etc of where i can find christmas
lighted houses/areas around Houston? i have a list from last year's
christmas light displays, but i can't quite remember where i got it
from! |

-The obvious Christmas in the Park, San Jose: Fantasy of Lights, Los Gatos ($9) Petaluma has some neighborhoods that do shows. Unfortunately, Petaluma
is a bit unclear on the concept of a web site. The web page asks you to
snail-mail a SASE to get a map -Our favourite are the Fulton Street (affectionately dubbed "Christmas Tree
Lane") lights in Palo Alto, off Embarcadero. Very nice displays, the whole
neighborhood gets into it (even the City!). It's two blocks long, and the
tradition is to turn off all but your running lights as you slowly drive
down the street. -We always drive around Willow Glen. But we were there last weekend
and there wasn't much to see. Could have been we went too early, or it
could have been the rain. -Turn off Meridian at Willow (a few blocks south of 280). A couple
blocks down Willow on the left is an enormous willow tree (in front
of a house, across from a large park) for which Willow Glen is named.
About every other year this tree is covered with thousands of lights
and it is really something to see. Drive further down Willow away
from Meridian towards Lincoln Ave (Willow Glen's 'downtown' area) and
look up and down cross streets and go down those that look
interesting. Turn right on Lincoln and go down to Minnesota and turn
right again and look up and down cross streets. There is one house on
Minnesota, a few blocks from Lincoln, that is famous--every surface
covered with lights also the yard, the fence, etc. Just drive slowly (an carefully) around that area and you will see lots of beautifully
decorated homes. |
