With the Christmas holidays fast approaching, it seems like our televisions
are inundated with commercials to buy EVERYTHING. Naturally, those Hogwarts
students who come from totally muggle families are probably used to getting
"conventional" gifts. Which makes me wonder.....
What do yall suppose these students do with any "conventional" gifts? I
could just see Hermione getting the newest Eminem CD: "Wow, Malfoy really *does* look like him!" Peeking into another room: "Gee, thanks mom, this
newest Super Mario Brothers game will go great with my game cube....oh,
that's right, there's nothing to connect the damn thing to!" Of course,
after their first Christmas there, the gifts would probably come from Diagon
Alley, but it would definitely be interesting to see what happens to all the
stuff from the muggle families....
Just an odd, random thought after getting zapped by some faulty Christmas
lights.... |

-Since they still live with their muggle families during the summer,
probably the muggle stuff just stays home, after the first time they
find out that electronics won't work at Hogwarts. Dean Thomas still
follows the West Ham footie team.
A few of the more experimentally-minded might bring some consumer
electronics to Hogwarts deliberately for the chance to experiment
with it, to try to find a way to make it work, or to come up with
a magical equivalent to, for instance, a CD player. All they need
is a way to duplicate the part that reads the coding on the disk
and then amplify the sound. The GameBoy might be trickier, but once
they crack the game at home they might be able to animate it. (oh-oh,
imagine Hogwarts infested with tiny little SuperMarios and whatever
other critters come out of those games.. -Snape hiding Lara Croft in his office....... LOL or being bombarded with
tiny coconuts from Donkey Kong while he is trying to teach potions |
