Help me with food-type CHRISTMAS GIFTS for friends?
I'm looking for ideas for things to make for friends and neighbors for
Christmas---something good to eat. I've tried spiced nuts, once I made 14
carrot cakes, and I was so tired .What can you suggest? |

-what about Dulce de Leche (quite simple, really)? Buy sweetened condensed milk
in cans, boil cans in water for about 1 1/2 hours, and produce a nice label on
your PC to go with it. (For those who don't know Dulce the Leche - it's a creamy dairy caramel, very
sweet, great with icecream or fruit; a little like pudding).
Last year I made a big batch of lime chutney to give away; this year I'll be
preparing Christmas Bourbon Balls.
Homemade chili ketchup was a big hit a few years ago ... spice mixes are very
much appreciated, too.
Let me know if you need a recipe for one or another -Last year I hand-dipped my own chocolates! It was fun, for a little while.
Rather messy, and I really began to appreciate how much work it is, and how
you really need good quality chocolate to begin with. I wish more people
liked fruit cake! My aunt sends everyone tins of fudge every year, we look
forward to it months in advance!! I guess the tip is in the presentation -
baskets, tins and even coffee mugs are neat, wrapped in cloth and ribbons,
etc. Last year I put my chocolates in a little tin, wrapped in cloth and
tied with an ornament. Kind of cute and fun to receive - One thing I found is to see if there is a local ceramic or crockery
manufacturer that has factory seconds sales. Last year I got these huuge coffee
cups with these coffee bean designs (and nary a scratch) in which I packed
chocolates and fudge for friends..
Those cups cost me 60 cents each and were the size of soup mugs |
