it's that time of the year again and we are getting ready to
do our Christmas shopping for our kids this Friday. We have a 10year old
boy, a 9 year old girl and a 2.5 year old boy.
We are having a hard time picking out gifts this year. We would like to
stay away from worldly gifts aka Sega Saturn and the such. I just emailed
someone on the net who is going to ship me his Mac Plus on faith for $100
for the kids. If it works ok, we will ship him the $$$, pretty nice of
someone to trust people these days such as this.
We know when we go to the Christian Book store our kids are always picking up
Carmen kids tapes and the such, but we don't want to go overboard either.
We would like to stck with items that not only are biblical, but also teach
them while they use it. any idea ? |

-Ther are several games that teach while they play. I have a few already
and would recommend:
Some Body (a human body game designed to teach the major
organs.)
Yatzee ( teaches adding)
Geo Safarie (learn the states, we plan on getting this
one)
Sports equipment is always good
The American Girl Series teaches history -I sure would like to recommend my own toy BURD puppets. They have
been used on seveal of the Donut Man videos - in songs like "The Sower"
etc. Check them out!
http://www.axtell.com/xmas.html -We've had good success with our two boys by giving them "Psalty the
Singing Songbook" tapes and "G.T. and the Halo Express" tapes. The
latter tapes are Scripture set to music with a running storyline, and
while I don't agree with all of the doctrinal viewpoints, I find most
acceptable to our conservative Christian family. Psalty tapes are more
saccharine, but are suitable for younger children, and teach Christian
values and traditional Christian hymns, among other things. |
