I have three nephews I'd like to make Christmas gifts for, but I am
at a loss as to what to make for them. The nieces are easier..they
like dresses, clothes for their dolls, etc. I'm totally blank for
the boys, though. They are ages 6, 8 and 14. Last year I made them
all wall hangings for their bedrooms, which were a big hit. I'm a
intermediate level sewer. |

-How about a 'hoodie' (hooded sweatshirt) for the 14 yo. No patterned
fleece, dark blue or black and he'll wear it. And make it too big. -How about fleece sleeping bags for indoor fun? The boys can play camp in the
living room with these. I "hemmed" a fleece blanket with a circus scene for
my sons who are too young for sleeping bags; very colorful. On my to-do list
is a plan to sew a felt "house" to go over a card table, complete with
windows and a door - your nephews might be too big to play house tho.... how
about organizational hanging pockets for each of the boys' beds? Always room
for storage. -I used to make stuff for the neices and nephews every Christmas, until my own
kids started taking up so much of my time (and the older kids got to be
teenagers). They'd send thank you notes, but I had no idea what an impact the
gifts made until a visit to one home--there was the Scottie dog I'd made the
girls one year. She said her cousin also had hers in her room! That was very
sweet, to know these grownup girls still have my gifts, 15 years later. |
