Does anyone have any ideas for small practical gift ideas I can make for
Christmas please? I've just found out that a relative of mine (in her 50s)
adores patchwork, so I'd like to make her something small, but it must be
practical rather than a purely decorative item such as a wallhanging.
Ideas I've got so far are a cushion cover, drawstring toiletry bag, or a
potholder. Anyone got any others? |

Needle case: cut 4 largish hexagons, maybe 2 1/2 inches across. Sew them
together in 2 pairs with a card template in between and a little light
batting on the inside side. On one pair, catch the ends of a little piece of
gold elastic into one side of the hexagon for a loop closing. Then sew the
pieces together on the side opposite the loop, using a tiny whip stitch. Sew
a pretty button to fit the loop. Put in some good quality quilting and
applique needles. Someone made one of these for me, and it's good to take
