I was wondering what you all had in store for your little ones this year? Are
any of you going on vacaction? I would love to get away this year at christmas.
I *know* that is not going to happen, though. Sammi's 3rd bday is this coming
thursday. There has been soo much going on that I haven't put too much thought
into it. I bought her party favor stuff months ago ( she was 4m old)...
princess theme. I just got her some books, a barbie, barbie suitcase,
brush/comb set..etc.Didnt spend much.I don't know what to do with all the stuff
she has already. Between her and shay, this house is a Toys R' us. Then,
Christmas is only 4m away. I usually have my shopping done by june...but this
year has been hectic. Sam thinks we should start buying stuff so this fall when
i am working and in school, I wont be so stressed out. I just *cant* bring
myself to start shopping. I keep telling myself that if i dont, i will regret
it later. Besides, what in the world would I buy the babies? I have noticed
they like *MY* kitchen stuff better than theirs. They have 3 toy boxes full of
stuff, and would rather dinker around with my things. Sammi has about 8 purses,
but....she uses an easter basket for a purse? LOL. Shay keeps occupied with
this big, empty bubble container. She moves the wand in and out of the bubble
container..........over and over again. This cracks me up---cheap toys..
entertaining,...etc. I told sam that all of their toys( with the exception of a
few) are a waste. I am thinking about getting one present for christmas eve,
and one big one from santa( christmas morning). I will do my tradition by
buying them a new pair of pjs to wear to bed christmas eve. I just dont think
its necessary to buy them a lot. I just read in our local paper about how
many homeless families t here are---It makes me want to cry. I think taking the
girls to the store to buy less fortunate kids some gifts would be fun. Sammi
would love to do somethign like that. So, does anyone have plans yet for this christmas, and have you done any
shopping? |

-Christmas in August! Well, I have started pondering it actually. This
Christmas I plan on buying several Playmobil sets, after hearing how durable
they are and how they promote creative play. I still have these perfect
visions of my two kids sitting quietly on the floor for hours doing
imaginatively play as I sit and read a book. -I hear you on the Toys R Us situation! :-)
I think Sam is right, get it out of the way now, then you won't need
to worry about it closer to the holidays, when it is so much more
stressful to shop. Have you thought about learning games and activities
for the girls, like play money, play checkbooks (teach'em early, I say! :-) things you could find in a teacher store? Art supplies? Then they
could make things out of those empty boxes, etc they find so more
appealing than the toys that come in them, LOL. :-)
Maya also uses an Easter basket for a purse, and we found some toy
jewelry on sale that has these big fake gems that can be interchanged--
she's never been interested before, and now wears the little earrings
non-stop (everything else is too big on her) and is just sooooo cute in
them!
It's been my experience that toys 'cycle', Maya may not play with them
at all for a long time, so I'll put them away in the closet or garage,
and then she'll 'discover' them, and play with them non-stop. Maybe you
could do something like that for the girls' toys? Just pack away a lot
of the things they don't seem to have an interest in right now, to
clear up the clutter around you. Maya rarely notices when we do that,
but don't let them see you do it! :-) If they are like Maya, you'll be
wasting your time putting things in the box, 'cause they'll want to take
them right back out again. -I've decided since Bryanna is going to be 10 months old at Christmas
that I'll probably get her some clothes, maybe a couple of toys but them
I'm just gonna wrap empty boxes because I know she'll be more interested
in playing with the boxes and wrapping paper than the actual present!
This Christmas is going to be so different for me...I really wasn't in
to christmas before...but now it's going to be fun. My mom is upset
because they got to Florida every winter so they're going to miss
Bryanna's first christmas...oh well, thank goodness for digital cameras
and web cams |
