Does any one know of a source for small brass eyescrews?
I am making bunches of Christmas Ornaments but have no way of hanging them
unless I ruin them by drilling a hole through them! |

-I buy mine at the local True Value Hardware.
However, one of the best suggestions, that was posted here, was to cut
the hook from gold colored fish hooks and glue them in place. The ones
with small barbs along the shafts will help to hold them in place.
Brass split "cotter pins" also may be clipped and glued in place.
You could "roll your own" from brass or copper wire. A good sized eye
can be made by forming small diameter wire around a small finish nail.
There are just a few suggestions; I sure that you will receive many
more. -The local True-Value hardware store has brass eyescrews -- we bought
some this week to hang a "tassle" at the bottom of a chandelier, and I
would say the size we used would be appropriate for Christmas
ornaments, about 3/16ths eye, screw size maybe #2, total length maybe 5/8ths. There wwere smaller and larger sizes. Retail quantitypackaging
and price, of course, but we only needed two.
I'll be glad to buy them out here and send them along if that helps.
But there must be a wholesale source you can find. -I bought a wire forming tool at walmart in the craft section by the
fabric. It looks like a small needlenose pliers with two round ends. you
can grab the wire and wind it around the ends. The round ends of the
pliers taper so you can wind various sizes. Works well and after you buy
a roll of brass wire you never run out of eyelets. Now there is not a
screw on the ends of the wire after you roll the eye. you just bend the
end of the wire over and make a barb. force the barb in the hole and I
haven't had one pull out yet. |
