I have a plastic nativity set and I am seeking some suggestions on how to
place it on my front lawn so that it doesn't blow away with the wind. Any
suggestions? |

-If it hollow, like made from a plastic blow up mold, then put hole in
top and fill with sand about 4 to 6 inches and the wind will not move
them. If its flat when you lay it on the ground like a picture get some
metal rods about 1/8 in to 1/4 inch and stick them into the ground and
make a loop on the top and use some wire to tie the plastic objects to
the metal stakes that you made. -Get a concrete company to pour a footing at least 30 ft. into solid
bedrock, then build walls around it with 12" thick cinder block, with
double thickness piers on all four corners. Then install a huge 3 ply
plate glass window on the front side, about 10 ft.high X 24 ft long.
Place a roof over the structure, using a minimum of three 20" I-beams
placed ontop of 36" thickness poured concrete pillars. Then apply
pressure treated, heavy duty 12 or 18 ft. trusses and clay tile
roofing tile, adhered to the roof with PL 400 adhesive, and 3 1/2 inch
lag bolts, per tile. Be sure to place 3/4" rebar in the block walls
at least every 4 feet, and fill the cores with concrete. To be sure
the structure is rigid under heavy winds, drive an 8" diameter piece
of wall casing a minimum of 50ft. into the surrounding landscape.
Place 4 of these, in the ground. each exactly 50 feet from each corner
of the structure. Then fill those pipes with concrete, and be sure to
weld a 1 1/2" eye bolt to the top of each pipe. Then, run 1" aircraft
cable to each steel support, and attach the other ends to each corner
of the roof structure, using 24" long X 3/4" thick eye bolts that bolt
to each I-beam, and thru at least 2 trusses. Attach the cables well
on both ends with a minimum of six cable clamps on each end.
Be sure to install underground wiring into this structure prior to
pouring the footing and slab. Use a minimum of #00 wire, and a 200
watt breaker main, and install one receptacle at least every 2 feet,
and several overhead lights.
With this completed, place your plastic nativity inside the structure,
and install a few colored lights, connected to an IR activated remote
control. |
