I have a nephew who is 10 and a niece who is 8. Can anyone recommend some good
books on mythology aimed at this age level? Best Myth Gifts for Christmas |

- still have this one with me.
My father bought me two books when I was about the age of your nephew when I showed
an interest in mythology, but I only have the greek one now.(Im sure the other was
by the same publisher, same set, etc.) I loved them, they have illustrations every
so many pages in a greek theme. The book is called "Adventures of the Greek
Heroes" by Mollie McLean & Anne Wiseman, 1961, Sandpiper, Houghton Mifflin Books. -I first read BOOK OF GREEK MYTHS by Ingri and Edgar Parin D'Aulaire when I was about that age and it is a wonderful
introduction to mythology. I don't know the title, but Sheri Lewis of Lambchop puppet fame has a book of short Greek
myth stories that is quite good as well - a friend just gave me a catalogue from the company ChinaBerry which has
many many books for children--several mythology books. The books are grouped
according to levels from 1-5, one being wordless picture books, 5 has titles
such as the "Hobbit" and John Matthews "The Winter Solstice." Even have a
book "Mythical Birds & Beasts." Friend has been dealing with this company and
is pleased. Their phone number is 800-776-2242--no webpage |
