this is my first Christmas in England, with my husband and without
snow We spoke to my sister Lucy this afternoon and we were told
that in St-Jovite, in the Laurentians in Quebec, for the last three days,
they have been getting beautiful snow..well, that’s one thing I
really don’t miss ...but I do miss not seeing houses with lights,
outside Christmas tree and Christmas decorations, the Christmas songs on
the street or in the mail when shopping. Nevertheless, at midnight Barry
and I will be exchanging gifts and tomorrow, our aunt Ray will be with us
and friends are coming over in the afternoon for tea...yep, I am now a “tea
person my dear” Oh!.... and our neighbour gave birth this morning to a
beautiful little girl, her second one, and they will probably come home
tomorrow, so we will visit Judy and the new baby while we will give Ellie,
her 2 year old, her Christmas presents. We will then wait for 5h00p.m. to
call the children in Canada....I am writing this and laughing out
loud...when in Montreal, my children used to tell me that should I be able
to play with the clock, I would get to New Year before anybody else...and I
will see New Year 5 hours before they will...so, this might be a good joke
with the children this year.
May Christmas bring you joy, happiness and love and may the New Year be
especially happy for you. |

-Lorraine, I'm glad you're doing so well in your new life. I wish
you and Barry a wonderful holiday, and a healthy and happy new year. - you must be in the wrong part of England. There is a house not
far from where I live where they put up so many decorations that it
becomes a tourist attraction and you get 10pm traffic jams as people
drive by just for a look:-)
I'm afraid I'm one of the apathetic ones who hasn't put up any
decorations, though.
Where my brother lives in Australia, there's a sort of unofficial
competition in his street about who can put up the best decorations, so
you'd feel right at home there. When Raymond and Karen moved into their
house, Karen said that it was virtually expected to put up good
decorations if you lived in that street, so no doubt she has been
upholding tradition. The decorations should still be up when I get out
there for the New Year, so I'll be able to check their efforts and
report back -We only have a Christmas wreath on the front door as in our neighbourhood
nobody decorates, but, who knows, next year, I might make a contest whose
house has got the most lightening decorations :-))).....meaning a lot of
lights and Christmas decorations. I wonder how my husband would cope with
that |
